SHD is available for first teaching in 2008 and it will be part of the national entitlement from 2013.

Schools, colleges and other providers wishing to offer SHD from 2008 will need to pass through a Gateway process which will assess their readiness to do so. To support the development of submissions, please see the Gateway guidance published by the DCFS (previously the DfES).

We also welcome continued engagement with higher education institutions during this next phase of preparation for the delivery of SHD.
